David L. Prince
Associate Director and Curator of Collections
David Prince joined the staff of the University Art Collection in 1986. Over his career he has developed a number of exhibitions from the permanent collection a sample of which includes examinations of Berenice Abbott, James McNeill Whistler, W. Eugene Smith and Ivan Mestrovic. Group shows investigated narrative art, artist colonies at Gloucester and Provincetown and artist portraits and self-portraits. He also created several loan exhibitions, most notably one on Winslow Homer and another in 2011 that brought to campus new work by emerging New York artists. Prince has been a regular presenter in the Galleries’ Lunchtime Lecture programs, most recently giving a series of talks on the sculpture located on or near the campus central quadrangle.
