Warren Kimble’s America
November 19, 2008 – January 18, 2009
An SU Alumnus (BA, ’57), Warren Kimble developed a style of painting that, in its timeless simplicity, evoked 19th century American Folk Art. In 1988 Tom Cruise purchased a painting and Michael J. Fox purchased several more the following year. In 1990 Kimble began to license his pictures and from that grew a company with nine employees and over 50 licensed images. This exhibition examines the artist’s paintings and sculptures and includes a selection from his 2005 Widows of War series, Kimble’s reaction to America’s invasion of Iraq in 2001.
