Conceal/Reveal: New Work from the Faculty of the College of Visual and Performing Arts
November 6, 2014 – January 18, 2015
I have had a longtime interest in the lemon and the layers of meaning and narrative it brings to my artworks. Its shape, colour, smell and taste add rich content to the work. This small and intimate piece is a direct response to my experiences in the US over the last 5 weeks. It illustrates the mishmash from the day I spent at the State Fair and numerous visits to Wegmans offering weird and sumptuous combinations of flavours. It can be understood as a suckling object; one that draws desire and expectation.
